Developing our Research Question

Brainstorming on on the concept that we have and fidning methods that might be used to explore these concepts.

Findings/ Observations. We went round and everybody had to come up with their own findings and observations. What did they learn from the research that they did not know beforehand.

Deciding the Design direction – what metaphor shall we use? Is it complexity or more like a logo?

Aim

The aim of the project was to develop a spatial and social ethnography of the internationals in Geneva.

Who are ‘Internationals’?
at least 3 different groups
1 legal & rich – working for the international organisations (but not only: rich and that’s it; working in TNC)
2 legal & normal – labourers
3 illegal / poor – black market, slaves etc. (more than 7000 people but difficult to count them)

How many of them are they?

In Canton Geneva in 2004:169889 foreigners (38.7%) and 268594 swiss

about 40′000 people working in IO, Diplomatic missions, CERN and their families

What does it mean to be a “global citizen”? What role do engineers, scientists, and companies play in improving our world? If you are interested in discussing these challenging questions with other IAESTE trainees and special guests, then this is the weekend for you! We will draw on YOUR knowledge, experiences, and ideas on being a global citizen in Geneva, the world’s most important meeting place.
